Here To Slay 11/24/25

Here to Slay is a fast-paced competitive fantasy strategy card game where players build a party of heroes to defeat formidable monsters and sabotage their opponents. The game combines elements of set collection, role-playing dice rolling, and direct player interaction.

The goal of Here to Slay is for a player to be the first to meet one of two win conditions:

  • Assemble a party of six different hero classes (Fighter, Ranger, Thief, Bard, Guardian, Wizard).
  • Successfully slay three unique monsters

Players begin their turn with three action points. These points can be used for actions like drawing cards, playing hero or magic cards, activating hero abilities, or attacking a monster.

  • Building a Party: Players collect hero cards, each with a specific class and an ability. Activating these abilities often requires rolling two six-sided dice and meeting or exceeding a target number.
  • Slaying Monsters: Attacking a monster requires spending two action points and rolling the dice to meet the monster’s roll requirement. Success lets a player claim the monster card and gain a permanent bonus, while failure might result in a penalty.
  • Sabotage and Interaction: Magic cards, item cards, and challenge cards are used to interfere with opponents’ plans, modify dice rolls, or steal or discard their heroes. This interactive element means players must constantly watch and respond to the game state.

The game is designed by Unstable Games, the creators of the popular game Unstable Unicorns. The mechanics are easy to learn for new players and fun for experienced players too!

Takenoko 11/17/2025

Get ready for some panda-monium!

This week we’re thrilled to feature the beautifully simple, relaxing, yet strategic game Takenoko. Players take on the role of gardeners attempting to cultivate the Emperor’s bamboo garden.

You must connect to water to irrigate land plots and grow green, yellow, and pink bamboo. But watch out for the mischievous giant panda who can’t resist munching on your precious crops!

You’ll earn points for achieving goals related to the height and colors of your bamboo, as well as for how will you ensure the picky panda doesn’t go hungry.

HELP US FILL THE PANTRY!

Goose Games will be collecting non-perishable goods every Monday through December 1 for the Utah Food Bank. We believe gamers care about community and we want to provide a practical way to help people in need. We’ll have a box for collections and hope that you’ll consider donating on game nights.
