About the Game
Based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, this epic strategy game places 3–6 players in control of the Great Houses of Westeros. Your goal is simple but daunting: be the first to control seven castles or strongholds.
Mechanics That Make It Thrilling
The game’s depth comes from its unique blend of military might and social engineering:
- Secret Planning & Simultaneous Reveals: Every round begins with the Planning Phase, where players place order tokens face-down on their territories. This creates a high-tension “poker-like” atmosphere of bluffing and deduction.
- The Power of Influence Tracks: Success isn’t just about soldiers. You must bid accumulated power tokens to gain positions on three critical tracks: the Iron Throne (turn order), the Fiefdoms (combat advantages), and the King’s Court (special order availability).
- Negotiation & Treachery: Alliances are essential for survival, but they are never binding. Success requires a “blend of might, diplomacy, and guile” as you decide exactly when to turn on your supposed allies.
- Unique House Cards: Instead of rolling dice, combat is resolved by comparing army strengths and playing unique House cards featuring iconic characters like Eddard Stark or Tywin Lannister, each providing distinct tactical abilities.
