A Place For All My Books 12/29/2025

For the last featured game of 2025, we are happy to be playing A Place for All My Books, the prestigious 2025 Barnes & Noble Game of the Year. This “puzzley, cozy, and wondrous” strategy game is a love letter to bookworms and celebrates the introverted joy of curating, organizing, and expanding a personal library.

Players act as book collectors managing their apartment’s shelves over nine rounds.

  • At Home: You use 130 gorgeous, full-color wooden book tiles to complete “Little Projects”. These involve stacking and arranging books according to specific patterns on your cards.
  • Social Battery: Every action taken at home—sorting, reading, or resting—recharges your “Social Battery”.
  • In the Village: Once you have enough social battery, you head out to the bookstore, library, or thrift shop to spend that energy on new treasures for your collection.

It offers a relaxing yet “brain burny” experience where the challenge lies in optimizing your moves to complete multiple projects simultaneously. Whether you are a seasoned strategist or a casual gamer, the rules are easy to learn, and no prior experience is necessary because we’ll tech you how to play!

Reindeer Games 12/20/25

A little holiday festivities seem in order this week! Our featured game will be Reindeer Games, a whimsical take on the traditional worker-placement board game. Players manage a team of reindeer tasked with supplying the North Pole for Christmas. Designed by Andrew Butler, who you may know from Octopush, this game is not only appropriate for the season, but it’s surprisingly strategic and fun!

The game utilizes a unique twist on the standard worker-placement mechanic where the actions of one player’s “workers” can frequently benefit their opponents.

  • Objective: Players aim to earn the highest candy payout before Christmas by gathering supplies and flying sleigh-shipments to the North Pole.
  • Worker Placement with a Twist: Unlike many games where placing a worker blocks others, in Reindeer Games, placing a deer/worker can often be turned to an opponent’s advantage.
  • Resource Management: Players are often at the mercy of their opponents to have their reindeer returned to them, which is necessary to set up large scoring opportunities.
  • Juergen the Lazy Reindeer: A specific character, Juergen the Yellow-nose reindeer (a character legally distinct from any other reindeer with a colored-nose), serves a unique role that allow players to use to use to gain points and/or disrupt their opponents’ industries.

And in the spirit of giving, we’ve got a lot of prizes lined up for prize drawings every hour (must be present to win). At the end of the night, we’ll also be giving away a copy of First Rat!
