It’s Pandamonium: Panda Royale Takes Over Game Night August 3rd
Some weeks we feature a game where you must think three moves ahead, manage a fragile balanced game strategy, and quietly ruin your friend’s carefully laid plans. This is NOT one of those weeks.
This week we’re dumping a bag of a hundred-plus dice on the table and letting the universe sort it out. Our featured game, Panda Royale is for those players who have ever wanted to throw an unreasonable number of dice at once and see what happens. t
Panda Royale is a dice-drafting roll-and-write from brothers Nathan and Jake Jenne, published through their own local indie studio, Last Night Games. Yes, you might have seen them at Goose Games last year when they first came to show us this game.
You start with a single yellow six-sided die. Over ten rounds, you’ll add one die per round until you’re rolling a fistful of ten. Each round you a handful of new dice come out of the bag and everyone picks one in yellow order. Last player standing gets whatever’s left. There are pity dice in this game!
Then everybody rolls at once! No waiting, no turn order paralysis as the whole table chucks dice simultaneously. Score your round, determine turn order for picking new dice and continue. Each die color scores differently so you do have SOME choices to make.
No cover charge, no experience needed, no rulebook homework. Your hosts will teach the game, probably several times over the course of the night.
