If you’ve ever dreamed of being a medieval monarch — strategizing, expanding your lands, and outwitting your rivals — then Dominion is the game you didn’t know you needed. This month at Goose Games, we’re proud to spotlight the 2nd edition of this award-winning ‘grandfather’ of deck-building games it as our featured game. We can’t wait to introduce it to new and returning players alike.
Start with a small, humble deck and build it into a powerhouse kingdom over the course of the game. On each turn, you draw cards and use them to buy new, more powerful ones from a shared marketplace — those cards shuffle back into your deck, making your future hands stronger and more interesting every round. The goal is simple: accumulate the most Victory Points and claim the most prosperous realm at the table.
What makes Dominion truly special is its variety. Each game uses only 10 of the many available Kingdom card types, chosen randomly, meaning the strategic landscape shifts dramatically every session. One game might reward aggressive tactics; another might favor a quiet engine-building approach. You can play dozens of times and still encounter combinations you’ve never seen before. And the number of expansions available to add variety to game play is absolutly staggering.
Don’t let the strategic depth intimidate you — Dominion has one of the smoothest learning curves around. Rules can be explained in under 10 minutes, and a full game runs just 30–45 minutes.
